At Knightsbridge, we’re always looking for fun, unique ways to give something back to our community. One of our most recent endeavours was to take part as a firm in the annual Anthony Barker QC Memorial Shield six-a-side cricket tournament.

The Tournament was arranged by No5 Chambers Birmingham and took place on 8 September. It’s fair to say the other teams were no match for us, as we won the tournament after winning all 6 games that we played!

We played against numerous teams from around the country, and everyone immensely enjoyed themselves. It was great to see so many people coming together to raise awareness of an important cause. No matter what their age or ability, everyone got stuck in and enjoyed the light-hearted competitive atmosphere.

There have been similar successful tournaments in the last three years, and we were pleased to be a part of 2017’s event. The tournament is named after Anthony Barker, No5 Chambers’ former Head of Chambers, who tragically died after a long but bravely fought battle against cancer. Antony was a lover of cricket himself, which is why No5 Chambers decided to honour him in this way.

With all proceeds from the event going towards Marie Curie, a charity which provides support for those living with a terminal illness, the tournament is a way for No5 Chambers to keep Anthony’s memory alive and help people going through similar situations.

It has not yet been confirmed how much money was raised from the event, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated when the information is known.
